(4.2) Is she really a doctor?

DL received her Ph.D. in physiology from Columbia University in 1974.
Her dissertation shows her area of research was insulin receptors in
rat cells. ("Effects of insulin on 3-0-methylglucose transport in
isolated rat adipocytes.")

(4.3) So what's a physiologist? I hear it's a glorified gym teacher.

The On-Line Medical Dictionary defines it as "One who is versed in the science of
physiology; a student of the properties and functions of animal and
vegetable organs and tissues." It has nothing to do with gym class
(except for, perhaps, any physiologists working in the field of sports
medicine.)

(4.4) I thought she was a psychiatrist/psychologist/
psychotherapist?

Nope. Physiology is a biological science, not a behavioral science. DL
does have a Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling license (MFCC.) She
describes it as 'Post-Doctoral', yet it is only 'post' in that she got
it after she'd earned her Ph.D. Technically, postdoctoral education is
assumed to be at the doctoral level or higher, and the MFCC is not.
Furthermore, the MFCC is not a continuing or related course for
physiology. Thus, DL's describing it as 'Post-Doctoral' gives a faulty
impression. MFCC's can be earned at the Master's level. Read a more

[for years she's falsely called herself a variety of exalted professional terms like psychologist, as the promo for the May 2007 CAMIE awards' Advisory Board shows and many years of similar tricks. The MFCC has been inactive for decades and she's used it for further buffoonery. There is no evidence to date to back up her claims of a practice. She briefly taught physiology?

(4.5) Well, if she's really a Ph.D., what's wrong with her calling
herself 'Dr.' Laura?


It is misleading and not very ethical to use a degree in one field to
imply authority in a completely unrelated field. As a self-proclaimed
'prophet' 'on a mission' one would think she'd be scrupulous about
taking the moral and ethical high ground herself. Since she proudly
describes herself as 'my kid's mom' perhaps she could find in that
role a more appropriate (and relevant) title for her show.

An article in the December 30, 1997 Washington Post reported the
results of a survey conducted by the Benchmark Co., which found that
"...75 percent of Schlessinger's listeners think she is a
psychologist, psychiatrist or therapist. She is nothing of the sort.
The "Dr." label comes courtesy of her degree in physiology, ... Only 3
percent of those surveyed knew the truth." ('Cable's Cavalcade Of

During this time of tribulation for Schlessinger perhaps she will reflect on the example she has set over a 30 year career and sincerely repent. The deceptive use of title is a reasonable place to begin. Since the revelations about Deryk Schlessinger, she has only stepped away from one of her jobs, due to the odd child porn and molestation coincidence?

I knew a Doctor of Pharmacology (and many more credentials). He would not use the title of doctor because it was not done with the quality of professionals he associated with.

I’m ok with Dr. Pepper, Dr. John and those that aren’t pretending falsehoods or doing smoke and mirrors. The ones on tv & radio are worth questioning. I’m sick of seeing psychologist after the ones we know are fake. That is getting into FRAUDULENT. Click the link to see one that has years of examples of this.

There are different situations. If you act as a professional doctor, but your PhD is in literature you need to get your act together. If you’re in a circus, Dr. Clown could be funny. Many media professionals do things for show or to boost low self esteem, they need to have ethics or they are sham. LOW MORALS ARE LOW MORALS.

The sorted tale of Pam Anderson and Laura Schlessinger

Laura Schlessinger, not a doctor but plays one, writes a column for Wendy McCaw's Santa Barbara News-Press Thursdays and Sundays. It's part of what Wendy and co-publisher Baron Arthur von Wiesenberger (better known as Nipper, suspected to be Nelville) calls a "transition". More like they are fighting workers in a worldview David and Goliath struggle. When Laura heard longtime veteran columnist/journalist, Barney Brantingham, had resigned over ethical issues, she called to ask for his job. As co-publishers easily smitten with celebrity, they jumped on her offer. Much to the exasperation of a community not aligned with her sham or preformance. WTF does this have to do with Pam Anderson? Not much. Other than it was a slow news day and we wanted to read what Canada had to say about Laura's November 9th visit to Vancouver. Canada not being as bamboozled by these "preacher" types. We were looking for statements, possibly a protest. Not. She had annoyed radio hosts at CFUN, for co-opting a comfortable chair and coming in with vast security. Downtown Eastside Enquirer blogged: "Foxman was also clearly annoyed by the level of security around Dr. Laura. He was relieved when she left because the police left. There had been barriers and rope around the radio station, as if protesters were expected. Later, when Foxman chatted on air with Libby Herman, producer of the Morning Show, he again raised the issue of the 'unbelievable' level of security around Dr. Laura. He got the impression that Prime Minister Stephen Harper could be "popping into the studio", it was that tight. In fact, when Foxman went to grab a coffee, he had to show his pass when he got sugar, then he had to show his pass again when he got cream. Herman asked jokingly if they had tested his Sweet ‘n Low. Foxman described the attitude of security as follows: "Who are you?" "I work here." "Yeah, sure you do punk." What's the security about? Another one of her publicity stunts? Did she get any Canadian media? The taxpayers covered the expense, do they know why? Here, where she lives, she is ignored for the most. She has a column, but the News-Press is rare to mention her. Her M.O. is publicity and "controversy". This is where Pam Anderson comes in. She and Denise Richardson were making Blonde and Blonder nearby. It seemed there was a total media blackout on Laura. People News reported on Nov 9, 2006: Pamela Anderson blames the turtle. Pamela Anderson has revealed the turtle in her new movie can't stop farting.
She revealed: "My animatronics pet turtle is hysterical. He keeps farting all over set. I can't wait for this movie to come out in May. I may have to bring him on our press tour. Farts are always funny." She said: "My pet is a turtle in the movie - animatronics of course. No real turtles are being used. No animals at all. It's an animal friendly set. That battle was won. Thank you." * * * * We couldn't find anything more about Laura. After Pam had a miscarriage and Denise Richardson flung the laptop, it was over. Laura's great security hustle was upstaged by a farting turtle.
